Nyesom Wike.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Segun Sowunmi, has said Nyesom Wike was on “loan” to work with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike, a former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), fell out with the PDP hierarchy in the lead-up to the 2023 election.

While many have questioned his membership in the PDP, Sowunmi believes he will soon return to the opposition party at the appropriate time.

He spoke on Fridays edition of Channels Televisions current affairs show Politics Today.

“His Excellency Nyesom Wike has made it abundantly clear that he is serving in the APC government as the Minister of the FCT and he is a member of the PDP.

“Yes, there is a duplication there because we have our suspicion, is he loyal to us or loyal to them? how else is he suppose to prove his loyalty? We have never seen him in any APC meeting but you’ve seen him in PDP meetings.

“If you are talking on the politics going on in Rivers, my position is clear, Wike cannot tell us having birthed a successor of his liking he is not going to provide all the wherewithal for him not to succeed.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a duty to tell Wike, in strong terms, that the business of governance is difficult and he knows about.

“We loaned him to the APC and by the grace of God we will take our thing back since they can’t find anybody good enough to work in their party.”
