Indian Language School
The Lagos State Ministry of Education is investigating the Indian Language School in Ilupeju accused of denying Nigerians admission.
The move to carry out the investigation was a result of a post made by an X user @decommonroom who shared his experience with the school.
The Indian school in Ilupeju only admits Indians. You need an Indian passport for enrollment,” the user said on X.
My experience with the Indian international school in Ilupeju dates back to when my school had a debate competition with them in 2009.
“I discovered there were only Indian students. I was curious as to why because my school was also an international school and run by a foreign embassy with primarily expatriate kids and few Nigerians. Then I was informed their passport was a prerequisite for admission.
His revelation sparked outrage among Nigerians who condemned the development.

The accusation of discrimination against the Indian Language School is coming just days after reports on Sunday emerged about a policy implemented by an Abuja-based Chinese supermarket against Nigerians.
It was gathered that the management of the supermarket gave a directive barring Nigerians from entering and buying items from the beginning of 2024 without a reason.
The Secretary of China Chamber of Commerce, Cui Guangzheng, in a statement on Tuesday, denied the accusation.
Guangzheng reiterated the commitment of the chamber towards ensuring equality and inclusiveness.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has said it will investigate the matter and ensure appropriate action is taken.
In a statement signed by Rep. Jaafaru Yakubu, chairman of the committee, the lawmakers emphasized that any form of discrimination contradicts the principles of friendship and cooperation that both Nigeria and China have worked hard to establish over the years.
They noted that the committees goal is to foster positive and mutually beneficial relations between the two nations.
