Bamidele Abiodun
A group, Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) has distributed foodstuff to over 500 women at Ososa-Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Council of Ogun State.
Wife of the state governor, Bamidele Abiodun, who spoke during the distribution of the packages, comprising rice, beans, garri, tomato pastes, among others, to the women selected from the communities in the council, emphasised the need for government and organisations to always put the well-being of the people at the centre of their agenda and activities.
Abiodun said that until people’s welfare is prioritised above any other selfish drive, the clamour for a just and better society may eventually be turned to a mirage.
She also supported each of the beneficiaries with cash gifts. The Ogun State First Lady emphasised that the prevalent economic challenges caused by several factors have had far-reaching effects on people, pushing up the cost of food and other commodities.
The governors wife added that this reality had further placed an extra burden on vulnerable communities like women, children, the aged, and people living with disabilities, among others.
Bamidele said that this is why interventions such as this by other stakeholders and organisations like WIMBIZ are quite appreciated because of its capacity to complement governments efforts to make life easier for the people.
Abiodun, while lauding WIMBIZ for its commitment towards women empowerment, said that economic empowerment has long-term effects that extend beyond individual households.
