The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended centre referee Tijjani Majidadi from further officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The chairman of the Referee Committee, Mohammed Ameenu, confirmed this in a memo sent to the official.

The move to suspend Majidadi takes immediate effect.

Referee Majidadi was found wanting during the rescheduled matchday 28 clash involving Rivers United and Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt last week.

The decision came after viral videos showed a controversially cancelled goal scored by Katsina United.

Rivers United defeated Katsina United 2-0 in the game.
