A group of gunmen has kidnapped a popular Archbishop in Anambra State, Uka Uka Osim of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.

The cleric was kidnapped on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 together with his wife, Anne Osim, son, Roland Uka Osim, and three other people, also clergymen of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.

Other three priests also kidnapped were Azuka Ochu, Moses Okafor and Anderson Akwazie.

They were travelling to Awka, capital of Anambra State, on evangelical duties when the armed men accosted them.

Their abduction was confirmed by the administrator of the spiritual organisation in Abia State, BCS, Bishop Denis Onuoha.

He said four days later, the abductors had not reached out to anybody.

We are very worried but we are assured that the Almighty Father who they worship and work for with total devotion will help them out, he told Daily Trust.

All efforts made by SaharaReporters to reach the state police command spokesperson, Chinaka Chioma Maureen for reaction were not successful.

The police spokesperson did not pick up repeated calls made to her as at the time of filing this report.
