Akinterinwa had earlier announced that he would honour an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today (Thursday).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released a former Commissioner for Finance in Ondo State, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, after he was grilled for hours over alleged fraud.

Akinterinwa made this known on X, praising the operatives of the anti-graft commission for their professionalism.

He said, I just left the EFCC office following their invitation. I commend the operatives for being very professional and civil. I assured them of my utmost cooperation whenever I am needed to assist in their investigations.

Akinterinwa had earlier announced that he would honour an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today (Thursday).

Akinterinwa was one of the 16 aspirants who contested the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Ondo State last weekend.

However, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was declared the winner by the party, in an election marred by irregularities

Akinterinwa on Thursday posted on his X account, Today, I will be honouring the invitation from the EFCC to shed more light on certain matters that the commission wants clarification on.

I have confidence in the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is done.

Reports on Monday claimed Akinterinwa was already with the EFCC to answer for the alleged mismanagement of billions of naira during the administration of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in Ondo.

However, Akinterinwa in a radio programme in Akure on Monday said the news came to him like a surprise, because he was not in EFCC custody.

He asserted that the stories were circulated by those who saw him as a threat to their existence and vision.
