Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) will extend its sensitisation on clean cookstoves to the countrys six geopolitical zones.

Director-General of ECN, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, disclosed this, yesterday, at the closing of a two-day gender sensitisation training, organised for women by the commission, in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training was on the adoption of clean cooking solutions in the country.

Abdullahi expressed the commissions commitment to reducing carbon emissions and solving problems of energy in all ramifications.

He said: We have just used the Kurudu axis at the pilot stage, and we aim to go around the six geopolitical zones with the same sensitisation. It is a commitment the energy commission has made already that we will try to reduce carbon emissions and solve problems of energy in all ramifications.

I hope that we will go back home with a new mindset that we have solved at least the problem we have in domestic cooking appliances. The sensitisation does not end here. This is just the beginning.

And that is also just a pilot stage.

The DG urged the women not to hesitate to ask questions and give feedback so that there would be improvement as technology evolves every day.

We will be hoping to get feedback from you so that we will hopefully improve on what we have here today. As you are all aware, technology evolves. So, we hope to improve on the technology we have adopted to get this cookstove improved, he added.

In her remarks, Deputy Director, Department of Energy Training and Manpower Development, Mrs Chinwe Ikeme, urged women to take the knowledge home and share it with others.
