There was tension in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday over alleged shooting of a student by a yet to be identified security agent.

The incident occured at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso.

DAILY POST gathered that a security agent allegedly gunned down the student and injured two others on Tuesday.

Our correspondent learnt that the incident occurred when the security agent was invited to settle a misunderstanding between two people in the school.

While attempting to settle the matter, the officer reportedly shot sporadically into the air.

Our correspondent learnt that in the process, a student was gunned down.

Two other students were injured in the course of the shooting.

The incident triggered a riot as students locked the school gates in protest, demanding justice for the deceased.

Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, ASP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident.

He said that the Command has commenced investigation into the matter.

Osifeso in a short statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday said, “Investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly please.”
