UNITED States-based songstress Cindy Munyavi has taken listeners on a nostalgic journey back to the golden era of Zimbabwean music with her latest release, Kadeya Deya.
The song, A love letter to the past, samples the iconic Wangu Ndega by the late Fortune Muparutsa.
A celebrated singer, songwriter, and producer, Muparutsa was a pivotal figure in the development of urban grooves. His hit, Wangu Ndega, not only became a cultural anthem, but also played a crucial role in promoting safe sex awareness in a society where the topic was taboo.
“It is an unapologetically urban grooves song with a nostalgic theme and feel. It’s the kind of song that prompts you to explore your feelings for your person, makes you want to fall in love, one that you would want on your wedding playlist," she said.
