NEF condemns attacks on Northerners in South

NORTHERN Elders Forum (NEF) has expressed deep concern over alleged harassment and attack on northerners conducting their legitimate businesses in southern Nigeria by criminal elements in the past three months.

  NEF clarifies that it had never engaged in any discussion regarding the politics of 2027 or decided on whom to support or not to support in such matters.

  In a statement by its Deputy Director General II, Salisu Mohammed, the forum strongly condemned acts of provocation against innocent citizens, who have chosen to engage in economic activities in that part of the country.

  It called on President Bola Tinubu and relevant security agencies to contain the criminals and prevent them from undermining national unity and cohesion.

  This call came as a response to a widely circulated video on social media where Eastern Security Network (ESN) members were seen cattle that belonged to Northerners.

  Lamenting the brazing act by elements bent on testing the elasticity of the country’s diversity and unity, the NEF described such an act as sabotage against efforts to strengthen the bond of Nigerians.
