Less than four days after a soldier, Private Mohammed Adamu, reportedly killed his pregnant lover, Hauwakulu Tabra, in the barracks of the 82 Division of Nigerian Army headquarters, Enugu, another soldier, Private Yahaya Sani, has allegedly stabbed his colleague, Private Aliyu Musa, in Enugu.

Sani, who is attached to the 74 Supply and Transportation Brigade, 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division of the Nigerian Army, was said to have accused Musa of stealing.

It was also learnt that Musa had complained that his phone was missing, alleging that the only person with him before the phone went missing was Yahaya. A source told newsmen that the two soldiers were coming from New Artisan Market, Enugu when one of them started looking for his phone.

The source said: “It happened that the phone got missing, while they were in transit. So, Musa asked Yahaya about it, but he denied knowledge of the whereabouts of the phone.

“He insisted that Yahaya was with him at the spot before the sudden disappearance of his phone and started attacking him for stealing his phone. “This happened on Monday night. In retaliation, Yahaya held his hand, disarmed Musa and stabbed him in the head with a dagger.

“Musa is currently receiving treatment in 82DMSH, while Sani is currently under custody for further investigation in 82 Division Garrison’s guard room.”
While no official of the military command was available for reactions, a senior army officer, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the development to our correspondent.

He said: “My brother, the story you heard is true. The soldier has been arrested and will undergo an orderly room trial after investigations. But you know, you won’t hear it from me because I’m not authorised to speak.”
