In a bid to promote women’s empowerment and leadership in Africa, Delta Airlines successfully concluded its Regional LEAD Camp programme for girls after an impactful four-month run.
The programme, which was organised by Junior Achievement Nigeria Africa, aimed at inspiring and equipping young girls from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa with essential leadership qualities. The LEAD Camp was the culmination of a series of stages that focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
The 30 participants from the three African nations were carefully selected from a pool of over 300 top-performing students, who had completed innovation camps and entrepreneurial skills training in their respective countries. The four-day boot camp, held in Ghana during the grand celebrations of the 2024 International Women’s Day, served as a transformative experience for the young girls.
The participants were engaged in workshops, mentorship sessions, and hands-on activities designed to empower them to become leaders in their communities and excel in the ever-evolving global economy.
Among the exceptional Nigerian participants were Aliyah Fasasi, Tayelolu Samuel, Chisom Okechukwu, Hafeezah Akinwunmi, Mariam Ajiboye, Esther Atiye, Blessing Omogunloye, Anuoluwapo Oyebola, Aliyat Hamzat, and Fauziyyah Olatunde.
The participants were accompanied to the programme by Kilali David-West, a Programme Officer from Junior Achievement Nigeria, and Mrs. Omolaoye Adebisi, the Principal Officer for Co-Curricular, Science, and Technology at Lagos State Education District IV.
The Acting Executive Director, Junior Achievement Nigeria, Olaolu Akogun, thanked the Delta Airlines for its invaluable support in providing the young girls with a life-changing opportunity.
