Anambra: NSCDC seeks Army’s partnership in securing critical national assets

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Thursday solicited for more support from the Nigerian Army to protect critical national assets in the state.

The NSCDC Commandant, Olatunde Maku, who made the call when he visited Col. Mohammed Abubakar, Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment Nigerian Army, Onitsha, said that the corps’ relationship with the Army had been profitable.

“When I resumed my tour of duty, I saw the existing relationship between all security agencies and I keyed into it. I am proud to say that you have not disappointed me.

“We appreciate the continuous support of the Nigerian Army in executing our mandate in the protection of critical national, state and local government assets and infrastructure.

“The Nigerian Army is also a supportive partner to NSCDC in the areas of training and retraining of the corps personnel, joint operations, fight against illegal oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism, illegal oil refining and petroleum black market racketeering,” Maku said.

The commandant explained that inter agency collaboration would help to rid the state of practices inimical to economic growth and development.

Responding, Abubakar thanked Maku for the visit and assured him of enhanced support, collaboration and synergy in the overall interest of the nation.

According to him, addressing security problems require collective efforts.

“I’m assuring you that the Nigerian Army will continue to do its best to assist NSCDC succeed in Anambra.

“We acknowledge NSCDC as one of the trusted agencies in internal security and we urge you to sustain the tempo in carrying out assigned functions.

“If we continue to collaborate, it will send a strong signal to criminal elements that we are out for them, and when you find something beneficial to us, operational wise, do not hesitate to call us.

“We are pursuing the same purpose as security agencies, which is national security. There is no superiority, the only difference is our individual mandates,” the regiment commander said.
