Twenty-one years after its first release, Afropop star, Tito Da.Fire has reissued his 2003 Afro-fusion hit, Majekaja.
According to the Grammy Recording Academy voting member, he decided to re-master the old song not only to bring back old memories, but also to give fans a reason not to forget his contribution to Nigerian music.
Now released with a video, Tito Da.Fire originally released Majekaja in 2003 as a follow-up to his debut single, Seun Rere (It’s Gon’ Be Alright) along with partner, Mickey of the duo, Gent2Men. The song spent several weeks at the top spot of numerous charts including MTN Nigeria Top 10, and was in the Top 5 of the Best 10 Songs of 2003.
Majekaja also spawned several weeks on Rhythm 93.7FM Top 10 and eventual Top 3 spot on 93 Best Songs of 2003 on Rhythm FM countdown. The song equally held a spot on the Top 10 of Ray Power FM’s 100 Best Songs of 2003.
“Majekaja remains a love and unification theme song that propagates oneness devoid of fights,” Tito Da.Fire said.
Born Uduak Jedidiah Peters, aside being a singer, Tito Da.Fire is also a producer and songwriter. To highlight his versatility and cross-cultural appeal.
the musician has been charting his brand of Ganta-Music, which blends Afrobeats, world music, reggae, pop and R&B fused with African percussions.
His debut album, Graduation Day featured rapper MI and Harrysong, while his 2019 sophomore album, One Kiss featured Grammy Award winners, Beenie Man and Wouter Kellerman along with Nigerian music star, 9ice.
In June 2021, Tito Da.Fire represented Nigeria on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s World Yoga Day Gratitude Song, which featured leading Indian stars and other international artistes.
Tito Da.Fire followed up with Kokoro, a dance smash in August 2021. In November of the same year, the Presidential Villa in Abuja played host to him. He was later named the brand ambassador of Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) for 2020/2021.
