Kaduna APC suspends chieftain for insulting governor, backing el-Rufai

All Progressives Congress (APC), Kaduna State chapter, has suspended Lawal Buba, an associate of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai for disrespecting Governor Uba Sani.

The indefinite suspension was handed down to Buba by the Chairman of APC Tudun Wada South Ward 07, Nura Dikko, who also barred him from accessing the party’s premises, structure and resources in the state.

The letter issued by Dikko and his Secretary, Yakubu Sani, yesterday, reads: “Dear Lawal Buba, having two-thirds majority of the party executive decide on your gross misconduct and utterances to those in position of authority and using wrong medium to disseminate confidential information, you are, hereby, suspended indefinitely.

“We write to inform you that, due to the use of abusive language towards the governor and party leadership, you are, hereby, suspended indefinitely from your position as a member of the party, APC, with immediate effect.”

Since the unveiling of the state of finance and debts left behind by el-Rufai in the state by the governor, Buba has reportedly embarked on a negative campaign against him.

Dikko remarked further: “It has come to our attention that you engaged in behaviour that is not only disrespectful but also undermined the principles of professionalism and integrity that we uphold within our party system. Your use of abusive language towards individuals in positions of authority will not be tolerated and is an indirect violation of our party’s code of conduct.”

Buba was also accused of using unauthorised communication channels for official correspondence and violating confidentiality protocols by sharing sensitive information through improper channels.

Other sins of Buba, according to the ward chairman, are: “Failing to adhere to party guidelines regarding respectful and courteous communication. Such actions not only reflect poorly on yourself but also have the potential to damage the reputation of our party’s structure and its relationships with key stakeholders.

“While we understand that emotions may run high in political discourse, it is imperative that all members conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful by our values.”

Meanwhile, in a telephone chat, yesterday, Sani told The Guardian that “the utterances of Buba were very uncomplimentary against the governor and unbecoming of a party leader.

He added: “He was openly in support of el-Rufai in castigating and insulting our governor. This is not acceptable and, therefore, Buba was suspended.”
