More than 500 residents of Yakoyo community in Ojodu Local Council Development Area ,(LCDA)of Lagos State have benefitted from the free medical outreach organized by the Rotary Club of Ojodu.
The club embarked on a two-day, medical outreach for less privileged and vulnerable people including elderly persons,women and children, as they were screened for various ailments and treatment. The medical outreach, took place at Destiny Child Primary School and saw the beneficiaries access healthcare services.
However, the semi-rural community, got an opportunity to access different health services right at their doorsteps.
witnessed an outpouring of support from volunteers and medical professionals, all dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the local community.
Project chairperson Rotarian Toyin Aiyeola brought together a team of dedicated board members and medical officers to offer essential healthcare services to residents in the Lagos-Ogun outskirts
Aiyeola said the outreach was organized to mark this year’s Rotary Family Health Day, the Rotary Family Health and Aids Prevention,((RFHA),campaign is initiated by the International body of the organization to bring free health services to underserved communities
Meanwhile, President of the club, Rotarian Ijeoma Nwosu said during her remark that the outreach falls under the club’s seven areas of focus,offers high-quality health care to indigent especially, vulnerable mothers and children so they could live longer and grow stronger.
‘These interventions was done to expand access to quality care so mothers and children can have the same opportunities for a healthy future.
“An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation, all of which can be prevented,” she said.
“We decided to flag off this kind of intervention for children,women,youths and aged persons in the rural communities, because we identify that a lot of these women are not able to get the type of care that they want for basic problems.
” A major reason,we have offered the free medical outreach for residents. This is just to touch lives and compliment government efforts towards accessing healthcare services.
“The event featured a comprehensive array of services, including: Polio Immunization, HIV Testing and Counselling. Malaria Screening and Treatment, Family Planning and Counselling.
Other services include, Dental Check and Care Services, Cervical/Breast Cancer Screening, Prostate Cancer Screening and many more vital healthcare interventions.
The Rotary Club of Ojodu is deeply committed to serving our community and addressing the healthcare needs of its residents.

Established in 2002 as a provisional Club, the Rotary Club of Ojodu was officially chartered on March 8th, 2005, with 26 dedicated members. Since then, the Club has grown exponentially and has undertaken numerous projects aimed at uplifting the indigent members of the Ojodu community.
