Plateau State First Lady Mrs Helen Caleb Mutfwang has extolled the initiatives of First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, in lifting the hope of Nigerians through her Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI
Mrs Mutfwang spoke at the launch of the RHI Social Investment Programme (Business Recapitalization Grant, women agricultural support programme for North Central zone, at Government House Banquet Hall, Little Rayfield, Jos,
She said that the choice of Jos as the centre for the North Central Zone was not a mere coincidence but a choice informed by the uniqueness of the city which is a home of peace and tourism.
Mrs Mutfwang described Plateau State as a hidden jewel in Nigeria, offering visitors a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural diversity, and a melting pot of cultures, where traditional customs and modern influences coexist harmoniously.
She said, “The cool climate also allows for the cultivation of a variety of crops, including potatoes, maize, and vegetables, which thrive in the city’s fertile soil.
£Today, we gather here in Jos to celebrate and support the empowerment of women in Agriculture and to provide financial assistance to disabled individuals in our community. This event is a testimony to the First Lady’s commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and economic empowerment for all members of our society.
“As we all know, women play a crucial role in agriculture, not only in Nigeria but around the world. They are the pillar of our agricultural sector, contributing meaningfully to food production, processing, and marketing. However, women in agriculture often face numerous challenges, including limited access to resources, lack of training and education, and gender-based discrimination.
“It is therefore, noteworthy that the remarkable show of commitment demonstrated by our leader, the First Lady, Her Excellency Sen. Tinubu is worthy of commendation because this support will enable the women to reach their full potential and contribute to the growth and development of our agricultural sector.
“Similarly, disabled individuals in our society also face significant barriers to economic empowerment and social inclusion. Again, the First Lady of the nation took it upon herself to provide them with the necessary support and resources to live fulfilling and productive lives. By offering financial assistance and opportunities for skill development, she has helped disabled individuals become self-reliant and active members of society.
She expressed gratitude for the partnership that would be entered into by various First Ladies in their states to ensure that this noble cause is replicated and sustained in their states. Indeed, the hope of the Nigerian woman is renewed!
Mrs. Mutfwang congratulated all the nominees and beneficiaries, and charged them to ensure that you properly utilize these resources and make the impact of this initiative visible enough for everyone to see.
