FG commissions firm to supply 85,000 agriculture machinery across LGAs

Amid efforts to boost access to agriculture mechanization, the federal government has commissioned Tee-Pama Nigeria Limited, vendors of Chinese YTO Agricultural Machinery to supply 85,000 farming equipment across the 774 local government Areas of the country.

He said the company is set to participate in the supply of 85,000 farming and construction machinery/implements to be be distributed across the 774 Local Government Areas will be carried out within two years with backup components and spare parts.

He disclosed that “a large number of YTO tractors samples would be procured by the Federal Government for five states including Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Ebonyi at the preliminary phase under the Agricultural Mechanisation System (AMS) program

According to him, the machinery and equipment to be supplied include tractors, harrows, plows, harvesters, rollers, bulldozers, and graders.

He recalled that in 2016, the federal and the YTO tractor signed a memorandum of understanding to supply 80 tractors, saying the MOU could not be fully actualized due to the recession in the country at that time. Still, the preliminary tractors supplied have maintained their performances” Akintunde explained.

Akintunde disclosed that the Niger State government had also expressed readiness to partner with them as the state is currently cultivating 250,000hactres of land across the state to make the state the food hub in Nigeria in a few years to come

The Commissioner for Agriculture in the state Salihu Bosso had expressed his happiness to partner to ensure that mechanized agriculture is delivered to the people of the state.
