Oyo State Government, yesterday, confirmed that it had received the nomination of the current Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola, who confirmed this to journalists, yesterday, said the letter of nomination of Olakulehin was received from the Ibadan South East Local Council.

It would be recalled that the Olubadan-in-Council, comprising High Chiefs in Ibadan, had appointed Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This followed the demise of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Lekan Balogun, who joined his ancestors on March 14, 2024.

Olakulehin, who is from Okugbaja lineage in Ita Baale area in Ibadan North East Local Council of the state, was nominated last Friday during a meeting chaired by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

He said: “I can authoritatively tell you that we have received his letter of nomination. We received the letter from Ibadan South East Local Council.

“We are currently working on the letter. After we have done our own, we will pass it to the governor. But, I can tell you that we have received the letter and we are working on it.”
