No fewer than three people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a three story building at Kuntua Quarters in Gwale Local Area of Kano State.
Two other victims have however been rescued by a team of rescuers, which included officials of the Kano State Fire Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Red Cross, SEMA and some members of the public.
Those who survived are currently on admission at the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in the state capital, Saturday Sun gathered.
While the rescue operations have not been concluded as at press time, nobody could say for sure what led to the collapse of the ongoing construction, more so as the state was yet to enter the rainy season when such incidents are more likely to occur.
When contacted, the Chairman of the Kano branch of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Usman Dederi pleaded with Saturday Sun that he had not been duly briefed and could not comment yet.
However, the Kano State Territorial Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, Nurudeen Abdullahi confirmed to journalists that five victims were rushed to the hospital, where three eventually died while two survived and were receiving treatment at the moment.
