At least 23 people have been killed in an attack by bandits on the Anguwar Danko community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to a community leader.

The attack, which occurred Wednesday night, has yet to be confirmed by Kaduna State Police authorities.

A leader in the community, Zubairu Abdulrahuf, told the press that bandits in large numbers invaded the community on Wednesday night.

Abdulrahuf said during the invasion, the bandits started firing indiscriminately to scare residents, and in the process.

He noted that more than 20 people were shot to death.

Abdulrahuf also disclosed that five people sustained varying degrees of injuries from gunshots.

He added that some other residents are still missing after the attack.
