The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, on Tuesday, told members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state for their one-year mandatory service to the country not to play with their integrity while serving in the state.
As such, he urged them to begin the service with humility, empathy and humility right with the first cardinal objective of the scheme which is the 21-day orientation course.
Represented at the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream ‘ll’ orientation course by his Commissioner in charge of the Ministry for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the governor urged them to be good ambassadors of the family and the country at large.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to offer unwavering support to the scheme by way of creating an enabling environment for the young Nigerian graduates to make judicious use of the service year.
Earlier, the Coordinator of NYSC in the state, Mr. Hassan Taura, told the corps members to avail themselves and remain committed to all camp activities throughout the orientation course.
To him, “ensure you fully partake in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training (SAED) designed to equip you with skills that you need to be self-reliant and self-employed after service year, as white-collar Jobs are not readily available”, Taura said.
The coordinator also reminded the corps members that the NYSC scheme does not condone unruly behaviour during and after the orientation course.
After the orientation course, the corps members would be posted to their various places of primary assignment like public schools, etc, where they are also expected to identify and execute community development services before their passing-out parade.
