Anti-graft agency files fresh charges as Ganduje appears in court today

The Kano State government, through its Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission, has said National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, will face fresh charges still bordering on corruption and misappropriation of public funds.

The Kano State government, through its Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission, has said National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, will face fresh charges still bordering on corruption and misappropriation of public funds.  

    
Recall that Ganduje, his wife and others are to appear before the State High Court today on an eight-count charge around the viral dollar video and others.
   
Unsatisfied with the eight counts, the anti-graft agency disclosed that Ganduje would be compelled to answer questions on the whereabouts of N51.3 billion council funds allegedly diverted to private accounts.  
  
 Appearing yesterday on a live programme, the chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Magaji, confirmed the amendment of the earlier charges. He alleged that the Ganduje government took N1 billion from the state coffers a few weeks before the expiration of his administration, and transferred the same to certain Bureau de Change operators as a purported allocation for road renovation.  

MEANWHILE, an APC chieftain in the state, Muaz Magaji Dawakin, yesterday urged President Bola Tinubu to withdraw support for the embattled national chairman, insisting his continued stay in office was affecting the masses rooting for the ruling party.   
  
The former ally and kinsmen said the ex-governor has “lost political credibility and should be allowed to resign for new blood to be injected into the APC leadership at the national level. 
   
The ex-Commissioner for Works during Ganduje’s administration, said even before his suspension by his ward, the national chairman was long due to leave the scene.
